Many of my colleagues have posted about the Cisco Illuminate event happening this week but I’m going to add my 2¢ as well. The event – a 3-day investment by Cisco into employee growth, learning, and recharging – opened with Francine Katsoudas, our Chief People Officer, having a fireside chat with Oprah focusing on intention and purpose. It was one of the best “interviews” I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure what I expected, but it’s safe to say I was blown away.
I’ll mess it up because I didn’t write it down, but Oprah commented at one point something along the lines of “Greatness isn’t something you are born to realize. Rather, greatness is a direct reflection of the effort you put in.” This really struck a chord with me. The recognition that ANYONE can be great with the proper mindset and effort put in is so encouraging and inspiring. I’ll get the actual quote and edit this post when I listen to the replay of this great conversation.
Oprah was the “headliner” celebrity, of course, but there are others who will be speaking with us throughout the 3 days as well. Other speakers at the event:
Thank you, Cisco, for the investment in my growth and for recognizing that all of us can achieve greatness in what we do!
