Mini Vacation: Spring Break 2022

Mini Vacation: Spring Break 2022

We decided this year to do something fun with the kids for most of the Spring Break week and rented a beautiful condo in Ocean Isle Beach. Our stay is from Wednesday through Sunday, and it has been mostly what we hoped it would be.

Ocean Isle Condo

As mentioned, the condo is really nice. It’s a 4 bedroom that sleeps 8 comfortably, exactly what we needed for our crew of me, Heather, Emily, Henry, Faith, Sarah, Katy, and Ethan. Plenty of parking for the three vehicles we brought, nice appliances in the kitchen, a washer & dryer, and on the first floor made it easier packing everything in. Check out the listing on VRBO for pictures. I think if we ever did Ocean Isle Beach again with everyone we would definitely consider this same condo.

Food & Fun

So what do you do on vacation if you’re part of the Davis & Smith crew? Eat and play, of course! Unfortunately the weather hasn’t been hot enough for the pool to be open so we didn’t have that option and the attached Tiki Bar isn’t open yet either. But the kids spent some time on the beach which was just a few minute walk from the condo. We also packed in a round of mini golf, solved an escape room (with some help from the staff!), shopped at Broadway at the Beach, went go-kart racing, and of course we ate some great food.

It’s All About Family & Food

Since the high season hasn’t officially started we did run into some issues finding restaurants open for dinner. But we managed, and the restaurants we ate at include:

Needless to say we didn’t go hungry. Rooster’s is the oddball in that group. We intended to go to the Grumpy Monk but there was a 45 minute wait to get in there as was the case at many other places at Broadway at the Beach. We had to get to the escape room so we ate at the only restaurant we could get in at. It was just “eh.” Food was ok but the environment was kind of lousy. But with all the other places, having a full kitchen with full-size appliances meant we had room for plenty of snacks and a place for tasty leftovers.

Overall I think it’s been a successful and much-needed getaway. Long enough to feel refreshed but not too long to where we got bored.
